To revitalize its productions, Disney is adopting a brand-new strategy: partnering with TikTok and allowing creators to use clips from its movies and TV shows in short videos.

This program, which will first be tested in the United States, will also allow user-generated content to be featured in a new section of the Disney+ platform.

According to the company, “TikTok will offer its creators access to resources related to hundreds of movies and TV shows drawn from Disney’s vast catalog of iconic franchises and beloved intellectual properties.” The reason behind this initiative?“Fan-generated content plays an increasingly important role in how audiences discover and engage […] with entertainment.”

At the same time, the entertainment giant reported quarterly revenue of $25.2 billion, up 7%, as well as net income of $2.63 billion—down by half year-over-year but exceeding analysts’ forecasts.

These results were driven by a 15% increase in subscription revenue from Disney+ and Hulu, as well as the phenomenal success of *Toy Story 5*, which surpassed $1 billion at the global box office.
